When I first started working with Nathan Walz I was dealing with debilitating depression, trauma, and weight gain. I was very concerned about my health and life and lacked optimism.

Before working with Nathan I was depressed, had negative thinking, was hard on myself, watched too much TV, had low energy, and low confidence.
I have alway tried to better myself but it’s always been a struggle with only small gains here and there. I started to wonder why some people could reach levels of happiness so quickly compared to myself. I have alway thought that I could be happier within myself, but I wasn’t sure how to go about it. I felt like I needed someone to support and guide me to a better me and to help me move forward when I get bogged down with the small stuff.
Then I heard Nathan speak on a podcast talking about topics that were unfamiliar and thought it was a great chance to work on parts I never thought of improving. I liked what I was hearing and there were a number of things that he spoke about that I have never heard or tried.
When we started working together I had been separated from my wife for a year and a half and was in the middle of untangling our lives and working towards a civil divorce. I had been on anti depressives for 2 years. I was in a rut and was sick of spinning my wheels and not getting anywhere.
Nathan had me doing some pretty crazy things like taking freezing cold baths in the winter time. Breath work was fun. Opening myself up about energy and emotions trapped in the body was very unfamiliar to me, but nothing ventured is nothing gained and I went for it.
My results are that I’m braver now than I was before. Happier and more aware. Moving through comfort zones was extremely hard at the time but now I seem to bounce back from negative periods.
I’m believing in myself and my ability. Being much more kind to myself and being aware of how often I would punish myself throughout the day. I still have a lot of work to do but at least I am aware of some of what I’m saying to myself throughout the day. It still amazes me at the amount of negative self talk that would go through my head in a day.
One of the routines I set up was a gratitude practice. I didn’t realise how hard it was to work on your internal self compared with anything external. Building a routine on gratitude, I have found it quite difficult and I’m astonished at how many things I can find to procrastinate on before doing the important work. I have kept up with my gratitude practice for over 6 months and I am really starting to see some payoffs.
After my work with Nathan I am much happier and more positive. I am really looking forward to going further and working on myself to be the best I can be.

Before I started working with Nathan I was experiencing fatigue, some brain fog, and generally just not feeling as good as I was used to feeling.
Although I was feeling fairly good about my health regimen, I knew there was more that I could do for health hacks and enhancements – I just didn’t know where to begin. Nathan was my first choice of coaches to engage. I looked over his bio and talked to a friend who did some work with him and decided to choose him. He was spot on and the one for me. He’s had so much experience to share walking the path of mitochondrial health. He’s a warm and clear communicator and shares his experience and knowledge with sincerity, care, and generosity.
Of all the “health hacks” that we worked on, the most challenging for me has been the cold thermogenesis baths. The first time I experienced one, I was totally scared. In fact, I was surprised just how freaked out I was! I had my targeted temperature measured and set up the bath water. Put on my compression shirt and thought I was ready. It took almost 15 minutes to decide to step in the bathtub! I eventually had to decide to just do it. When I finally stepped in, I stood there and surprisingly after a few minutes, my feet and ankles adjusted. I slowly eased down into the water and after about 10 minutes – full immersion! I laughed out so loud, I couldn’t believe it. That was a 68 degree bath. Now that I’m down to 54 degrees, I’ve noticed an uptick in my energy, dropped a few pounds, and sleep noticeably better.
As a result of working with Nathan, I definitely achieved more energy and greater well-being. I’m feeling great and more grateful for the spark to learn more and take responsibility for my health. I’m very happy to explore and discover tools that improve my health!

I was interested in getting Nathan’s help with improving my diet, gut and hormones with the long term gain of gaining some muscle and feeling optimal. I wanted to fine tune my health protocol. I have been using a lot of Jack Kruse’s recommendations but had reached a point where I couldn’t go any further so wanted to gain the help to do that.

Dear Nathan
It’s been a great JTOH for me.
As I mentioned at the beginning, I had been doing things to improve my health, physically, and increase energy levels since last December 4th when I returned from Florida to my hometown in Puerto Rico.
In fact, since there was so much walking to do at Orlando Airport, I required wheelchair help, with an attendant. The first time ever and hopefully the last. This, because I had been experiencing increasingly worse joint pain in neck, shoulders, hips and waist. This made it increasingly more difficult to sleep.
That December 4th traveling day I felt so weak and vulnerable, that before leaving the house, at the last minute I had to unpack most of my already light suitcase. My family then mailed the remaining clothes thru FedEx.
So, I was thankful for my progress up until the beginning of the journey back to health.
The healing process accelerated under your coaching.
I was able to leave the only medication I’ve ever taken in my life. (I’m 73 years old) That was Meloxicam 7.5mg once a day, since 12/30/19. I could hardly bear without it. Every 30 days I would try to go off it, but inflammation and pain impeded it. Finally, and it brings me a wonderful smile and a joyous feeling, (and water eyes also!) May 28th was the last day I took the medication. Occasionally I may have felt a little joint pain, but it would soon go away. I have not needed to use it, not even once.
I thank you deeply for that. My energy levels, right now, are better than in the last two years. I’ve experienced better sleep. And digestion wise, even better on the excretion process.
I’ve also been amazed during the last two weeks on the work that I’ve been able to do in the yard.
Tropical Storm Isaias caused some damages in the yard. I used a “machete” and a pruning saw to cut very tall banana plants but I was amazed at my ability to do the movements and the carrying, pain free. I did about 2 hours of work at a time.
I even mowed the lawn, which I hadn’t been able to do during at least the last two years.
I thank you for many things, but especially for my going back to writing (especially poems), a had been forgotten passion.
And I dearly appreciate your encouragement about going to the ocean and exercising there. I met someone who has become a good friend, and who it turns out is the partner of a high school teacher who was a colleague and friend of my wife Martha, who went to heaven about 19 years ago. And I had also given two talks to her students on self-esteem and on emotions when I was doing volunteer work over five years ago. Lots of interesting synchronicities have occurred.
I have a more active social life now, which has not been easy because of the coronavirus lockdown. (It’s not over yet! Ha!)
My new friend, who coached me also on resistance exercises at the beach observed my improvements in moving, balance, etc. I feel much more strength in my legs now than I’ve experienced for many years.
I have experienced some deeper levels of awareness, including more frequent than before levels of connection with others. What’s also very relevant is the fact that I’ve experienced significantly lower levels of anxiety and stress and fear, especially in my relations with authority figures.
My progress towards fearlessness has been going on for decades and I have become aware of more freedom from these fear based responses during our Journey together.
I look forward to continue experimenting with these exercises and protocols among the many that you have recommended that have contributed to my healing process. I also thank you for your going beyond…and helping out with health improving suggestions for some of my very dear friends.
I feel friendship bonds with you, Roxanne (from group coaching) and the other wonderful people that I’ve met thru you.
My advice to anyone considering working with Nathan is to accelerate their decision to join the program. Don’t wait any longer. You can fully trust Nathan’s overall preparation and skills towards supporting you in optimizing the quality of life. Of course you need to do your share of the bargain, practicing the exercises, etc. In Nathan you have a great coach. He is very loving, patient and kind in supporting you, based on your needs. In June of 2018 while recovering from 5 weeks in the hospital, I discovered that sitting in the sun actually helped the widespread chronic pain I had been in for 9 years. Not 24 hr a day, sadly, but it greatly helped at LEAST for the minutes or hours I was able to sit in the sun.
This led me to research “pain” and “sun” online – and it led me to Dr Jack Kruse, a brilliant M.D. in New Orleans who has developed amazing insights using biophysics that can explain many of the chronic conditions that plague us and which MOST doctors haven’t a clue how to fix. Dr Kruse has more than a clue – he is actually guiding and teaching such people to get better with great results!
But Dr Kruse is so smart and so beyond most of us in his understanding of the human body – that his lectures and blogs are tough for the average citizen-on-the-street to absorb and make sense of. I had a strong feeling his ideas would be breakthrough for me and could help reduce the pain I desperate wanted to eliminate – but I didn’t have the patience to study Dr Kruse’s lectures for 2 years before feeling confident I could dive in and do his protocols correctly.
Enter Nathan Walz. Nathan himself was sick for many years with Lyme (something my doctors ALSO thought I had along with fibromyalgia)…but got better by researching many health approaches – especially those of Dr Kruse.
I have learned in my healing journey that someone doesn’t need a white coat or the letters “MD” after their name…to teach us a lot. So I signed up to have Nathan as my coach, knowing he could just “translate” what I needed to know from Dr. Kruse’s complicated work to start my healing protocols TOMORROW, without delay. Nathan did that and he also pulled in ideas from other practitioners for me, too.
Nathan taught me how to “ground” correctly at night – something that FINALLY was a big positive for me and my sleep. I had been doing it incorrectly for years. He patiently guided me through how to get the right glasses and light exposures at various times of day. He was a persistent yet kind coach who I felt was “all there ” for me. I was especially grateful I could reach out to him by email with questions between our sessions.
I have a long way to go to fully heal…but I am on my way, and I couldn’t have gotten started this fast without Nathan!! Because of him I have full confidence I am doing what I need to do to heal over time.

Nathan brings to the table the BIG MISSING PIECE that our medical establishment has ignored and which I feel now has led to nursing homes filled with extremely disabled people, our epidemics of autism, diabetes, alzheimers, parkinsons, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia…and much much more.
We now understand that we need to eat the way all our ancestors did to maximize our health (since our bodies evolved and were optimized to those foods for 99.9% of evolution). Here’s the big idea: we also need to expose our bodies to the same LIGHT humans were exposed to for 99.9% of human history…or we face grim consequences. Our mitochondria have “light antenna’s” which need the right light rays to provide us with the energy we need to stay healthy. They (and we) start ailing quickly when we don’t get enough natural sunlight…or when we get too much artificial indoor light. An LED bulb is not too different from a Big Mac – we are evolved to deal optimally with neither item.
But it is daunting to figure out how to live in modern world with different, more natural kinds of light – and to turn off the artificial “blue light” of TVs, computers and iphones – which even Harvard Medical school has published negative articles about.
Again, Nathan to the rescue!!! He helped make my transition practical and real….without me having to go live in a cave — or never again getting to respond to a text from my daughter.

He created a customized program and gave me some excellent food/lifestyle recommendations. More importantly he taught me easy to do health hacks that fit into my work schedule.

My story begins last November at Thanksgiving. I was not feeling very hopeful and definitely not thankful! Life was tedious. All I did was get up go to work… come home… go to the pool to work out…come home… eat dinner and go to bed.
My butt was dragging throughout the whole ordeal. I was fat, I had low energy, I did not sleep well, I struggled with aches and pains, I was totally stressed out, lacked confidence and had low self esteem. I was a MESS!
I was getting scared. I felt like my body could not take much more…..I began praying for and answer…..seeking for hope. I was a teacher, an Elementary Art Teacher, I had a five day holiday for Thanksgiving, so I had time to pray and search.
Since I had extra time on my hands I also hit You Tube and looked for a video of one of my favorite Mito Hackers, Jack Kruse. I found one I had not listened to….I found Nathan Walz interviewing Jack. It was one of the best interviews of Jack that I had listened to. ( I had listened to many with Jack that were on You Tube). This intrigued me so I checked out Nathan’s website.
That began my journey! A “Journey To Optimal Health,” six months later I still have weight to lose, but I have HOPE…..I am on the biggest adventure of my life….I am becoming VIBRANT in all aspects of my life! My life is full of energy….I am sleeping…my confidence has improved and LIFE is exciting…LIFE is not tedious!

My name is Bill O’Dell. I have had the pleasure of knowing Nathan for a number of years. Most recently, I met up with Nathan over lunch. It had been quite a few years since our last face to face meeting and I was anxious to catch up on our life’s journey.
Nathan proceeded to tell me a bit of how his life had changed dramatically with a focus on his health. Lunch turned into a detailed account of Nate’s Journey to Optimum Health. First of all, Nate’s passion on this subject got me hooked to learn more. His passion and ideas really hit me because I was a Boston Marathoner a few years back and then had a major run of bad luck stemming from a birth defect that had finally taken hold of me and I had both of my hips replaced, a left knee replaced and a 3/4′ lift attached to my right sneaker to help keep my hips level. I had gone from a pretty healthy Male of 53, to a very non-mobile, painful , depressive lifestyle at 57 years old.
By seeing Nate’s passion and energy, I knew his path would have some positive effects on my lifestyle. I will have to admit , I’m not ready for all of Nate’s theories but I figured if I started out slow , I would have nothing to lose.
His first suggestion that hit with me was to take more Collagen. I immediately went to the web, with Nate’s suggestion and ordered some Pure Hydrolyzed Collagen Peptide. I have now finished two big containers of this and a lot of my pains have gone away, specifically a 10 year old pain in my right shoulder. The pain is gone along with some increased flexibility in that right shoulder. I’ve also noticed other membrane issues such as my head doesn’t feel like it’s going to explode when I sneeze. This, by itself has changed my life big time.
Second, I bought a specific light that Nate said would help heal some of tissue in my replaced knee. I have now done this for about two months and I’m now able to do some lunges with that knee that I haven’t been able to do for the last year. I’m now started to shine that light on my left hip , also replaced about 6 months ago. I’ve already noticed some relief of pain and some increased flexibility. With some more time with this , I expect my hip to be back to 100% shortly.
I have also increased my intake of healthy fat. I have bought the Wild Alaskan Salmon burgers from Costco and eat them 3 times a week and I’ve also had a tablespoon of Coconut oil on a daily basis. I don’t feel the immediate effects of this but it’s much better than I had been eating and I do find better, more consistent bowel movements.
I have also bought some Blublocker sunglasses to wear in the house after it gets dark and I have the lights on in the house. I have tried to use them at night in bed before falling asleep but I haven’t been as consistent with this as I would like to be. But if I know I need a good night sleep, the glasses are on and I have the app, “Twilight” on my phone that takes out the blue light out of the display. This does help me get sleepier faster when I’m using my phone late at night.
I’m not ready to jump into a cold river or lake. I have tried to get outside a tad more. I will need my body to get more recovered from my surgeries to make this more of a part of my life, but for the small, easy changes I’ve made in my life, I’m a much happier, healthier person. So my health isn’t at it’s optimum yet, but with the help of Mr. Nathan Waltz my journey has begun.
